COMMISSIONS
Most of Tim's work is carried out using traditional techniques and
materials such as fine quality paints and real gold leaf and powder on calfskin
vellum or handmade paper.
As a Herald Painter (heraldic artist) at the College of Arms, where he has been working since 1986, Tim
undertakes heraldic commissions for important individuals including
The Queen, major corporations and institutions such as City Livery
Companies and the Law Society. In 2001 he painted ceiling panels
for the Tudor ceiling of the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace.
Tim has also designed coins and medals for the Royal Mint, including
the Gold Sovereign and medal issued for The Queen’s Golden
Jubilee. For specifically heraldic commissions only, please contact Tim via the
Herald in waiting at the College of Arms. Please see their website, where some of his work is often illustrated, for details: www.college-of-arms.gov.uk.
Other recent commissions have included presentation scrolls for
the City of Bath, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and Sir Paul Getty, a calligraphic
panel and award plaques for Brunel University and an alphabet of
illuminated letters for The Usborne Book of Castles (Usborne Publishing,
2002).
Timothy also welcomes commissions for:
- Invitations, wedding stationery and decorative maps.
- Presentation scrolls and certificates.
- Illuminated initials on vellum with gold leaf and colours, suitable for christenings, weddings, anniversaries and other special occasions.
- A range of miniatures including cats and other animals, portraits
